Values-Based Organization

Values-Based Organization

Discuss an organization within the public sector (government, health care or nonprofit) with which you believe that your values are most closely aligned, or with which you would like to have your values more closely aligned. Think specifically in terms of “creating value” or “claiming value” as was discussed by Bolman and Deal in the chapter on political frames. Is this a public organization that you also admire? Other questions to consider when writing this paper may include the following:

What are some of the challenges in this organization that prevent it from realizing its full potential? Ideally, where would you like to see this organization in terms of its role within the public sector, how it serves its constituents, and how it contributes to the perception of public organizations in general? If there is a bottom-line, how does this organization define it? What performance indicators, if any, does your chosen public sector organization use to determine whether or not it is meeting its objectives?
